Abstract

ABSTRACT   The aim of this study was to compare the occurrence of granulomatous lymphadenitis in swine caused by Mycobacterium avium Complex (MAC) and other pathologies in two production systems. Six hundred and forty pigs distributed in two treatments and in 4 repetitions (80 pigs/treatments group distributed in 4 pen) were used. The treatments were: T1: facilities with dipper-litter of wood shaving and T2: facilities with partially slatted floor. Eigth pigs treatments-1 (two pen-1) in the first group were inoculated with MAC one day after lodging (2mg pig-1). The occurence of pneumonic lesions and atrophic rhiniti was irregular among the groups and had no effect on the treatments. The frequency of reaction to the tuberculin test and lymphadenitis lesions were highest on the pigs raised in facilities with dipper-litter of wood shaving. The rough fiber percentage in excrements was lower in T2 (10,3%), compared with T1 (25,7%). It was concluded that when the deep-litter is contaminated by MAC, the production system in deep-litter, favors the development of lymphadenitis lesions.   Key words: Glyphosate, imazethapyr, residue, genetically modified s Rough fiber, pneumonic lesions, atrophic rhinitis
