A institucionalização partidária afeta a capacidade estatal?

Resumo
O trabalho examina a relação entre institucionalização partidária e capacidade estatal. Buscamos entender qual o efeito de sistemas partidários estáveis e socialmente conectados (X) sobre a capacidade de Estado realizarem suas metas oficiais (Y). São analisados dados de painel de 177 países para o período de 1960 a 2015, por meio de modelos de efeitos fixos. Utilizamos dados do Varieties of Democracy (V-DEM) (X), de Hanson e Sigman (2021) (Y) e do Banco Mundial. Os resultados apontam para uma associação entre sistemas partidários mais institucionalizados e níveis mais altos de capacidade estatal, mas apenas no contexto de países onde a democracia é mais forte. Ou seja, a institucionalização só afeta a capacidade estatal, a partir da democracia. Estes resultados apontam para uma agenda de pesquisas mais ampla sobre quais os fatores que impactam a capacidade estatal.
