A crítica do capitalismo tardio em Jürgen Habermas: uma defesa contra seus intérpretes

  • Felipe Moraes UFSC

Abstract

The present article supports the thesis of the colonization of the lifeworld proposed by Jürgen Habermas as a model for critique of late capitalism, including its neoliberal phase. The introduction explains the dual theory of modern society that underpins Habermasian model. In the following chapters, three critiques to this model offered by national and international interpreters are addressed: the abandonment of class struggle, the abandonment of crisis theory, and the abandonment of the critique of ideology. Based on the responses to these critiques, the different meanings of the colonization thesis (reification, violence, ideology, and alienation) are analyzed, as well as their broader significance is synthesized. The concluding remarks make explicit the relevance of this model for a critique of neoliberalism.
