The use of auriculotherapy as an integrative health practice: an integrative review
Abstract
Objective: to analyze the scientific evidence about the effectiveness of auriculotherapy in health contexts. Method: integrative review research with an analytical approach based on evidence. Bibliographic survey carried out from January to February 2022, in the databases, the term “Auriculotherapy” or “Auriculotherapy'' was used, and publications that met the inclusion criteria were selected, totaling 28. Results: the thematic categories, such as applications in women's health and obstetrics, workers' health, in pre and postoperative situations, for analgesia control and quality of life and in cancer patients, resulted in benefits such as decreased anxiety, pain, stress, and was associated with improvement in quality of life, and sleep in the case of the elderly, and cancer patients related to pain and appetite. Conclusion: this practice has brought benefits to the population of the analyzed studies, with predominant application in pain conditions in the most diverse scenarios.
