PÁGINAS DE UM SABER MÉDICO: A PRESENÇA DA TUBERCULOSE EM TRABALHOS PUBLICADOS NO ARCHIVOS RIO-GRANDENSES DE MEDICINA

Resumo

Neste texto, compartilho algumas discussões apresentadas em minha dissertação de mestrado. Na pesquisa realizada, a tuberculose foi o eixo através do qual eu procurei investigar uma história da doença no Rio Grande do Sul durante a primeira metade do século XX. O presente artigo encontra-se dividido em duas partes: na primeira, comenta-se acerca da constituição de uma imprensa médica em Porto Alegre a partir da fundação do Archivos Rio-Grandenses de Medicina (1920-1943), periódico cujas páginas serviram aos interesses profissionais de médicos diplomados e atuaram como um canal de enunciação e difusão de um saber médico-científico no estado; na segunda parte, discute-se a presença da tuberculose em trabalhos publicados no Archivos – para tanto, é obedecido um recorte analítico: sem dar conta da totalidade de estudos publicados a respeito dessa doença, são selecionados textos em que seus autores discutiam estratégias profiláticas, meios diagnósticos e recursos terapêuticos empregados contra a tuberculose em um período que antecedia o tratamento antibiótico eficaz_________________________PAGES OF A MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE: THE PRESENCE OF TUBERCULOSIS IN ARTICLES PUBLISHED IN ARCHIVOS RIO-GRANDENSES DE MEDICINAIn this text, I share some discussions presented in my master's dissertation. In the research carried out, tuberculosis was the axis through which I sought to investigate a history of the disease in Rio Grande do Sul during the first half of the 20th century. The present article is divided into two parts: in the first part, it is commented on the constitution of a medical press in the city of Porto Alegre from the foundation of Archivos Rio-Grandenses de Medicina (1920-1943), a journal whose pages served the professional interests of doctors and acted as a channel for the enunciation and dissemination of a medical-scientific knowledge in the state; in the second part, the presence of tuberculosis is discussed in works published in Archivos - for that, an analytical approach is obeyed: without taking into account the totality of published studies on this disease, texts are selected in which its authors discussed certain prophylactic strategies, diagnostic means and therapeutic resources used against tuberculosis in a period that preceded the effective antibiotic treatment.
