Educação Ambiental e Literatura: narrativas sobre as florestas

Resumo

O artigo analisa como a floresta amazônica foi narrada, no início do século XX, na literatura de viagem de Euclides da Cunha, destacando os efeitos pedagógicos de tais narrativas. Argumenta-se que os animais que habitavam a floresta naqueles tempos foram discursivamente silenciados. Com essa estratégia, buscou-se romper com uma literatura naturalista e estrangeira de viagem do século XIX sobre a Amazônia. Essa operação discursiva pretendeu nacionalizar a floresta, visando seu preenchimento por brasileiros, sua integração à nação, seu desenvolvimento econômico e social. As análises foram processadas sob inspiração dos estudos culturais, em suas versões latinoamericanas. O artigo busca, em suas conclusões, promover indagações ao atual campo da educação ambiental. Palavras-chave: Educação Ambiental, Estudos Culturais, Amazônia. Environmental Education and Literature: narratives about the forests Abstract This article analyses as the Amazon forest was narrate, in the early 20th century, on the travelling literature of Euclydes da Cunha, highlighting the pedagogical effects of such narratives. It is argued that animals which live in the forest at that time were discursively silenced. With this strategy was sought to break with a naturalist and foreign travel literature of the XIX century about the Amazon. This discursive operation intends to nationalize the forest, aiming the filling by Brazilians, your integration to the nation, your economical and social development. The analyses were processed under the inspiration of cultural studies, in their Latin-American versions.
