THE IMMATERIALITY OF THE MATERIAL, THE OBJECTS AGENCY OR THE LIVING THINGS: THE INANIMATE ELEMENTS INSERTION IN THE SOCIAL THEORY
Abstract
Since the late 1970's, approaches were developed which intended to insert the subject within social theory. Despite the notorious advances towards overcoming the dichotomy between structure and agent, other oppositions were still kept, since these perspectives did not include objects in social relations. Thus, seeking to overcome these dichotomies, theoretical perspectives concerned with the role of material elements in the network of relationships were developed, focusing on theagency of objects. This paper will discuss these works with the intention of verifying whether these provide an overcoming/dissolution of dichotomies between objectivity X subjectivity and materiality X immateriality.
