Estudo comparativo entre as pontas líticas do Sítio Carcará com a indústria rioclarense
uma primeira aproximação entre artefatos do centro e do leste do interior do Estado de São Paulo
Abstract
Researches carried out in the Vale do Paraíba do Sul Valley, in the eastern portion of São Paulo State, resulted in the identification of the Carcará Site, which presents an important assemblage of lithic points, dating from the early Holocene. Such a context becomes favorable for the cultural characterization of prehistoric human groups in a little explored area. The first analysis of the assemblage associated the point as Umbu Tradition. Recent research demonstrates that the frequent linking of São Paulo sites to such Tradition can be mistaken. In order to understand whether the points from Carcará site could be associated with other artifacts from the same period and equally represented by points, we analyzed the formal artifacts using the same protocol that defined what is conventionally called Rioclarense Industry, located in the central part of São Paulo State. This proposal observes morphological and technological attributes, where the latter is considered to be more important for the classification of different types of artifacts. The results showed that, although the points of Carcará site have similar technological features understood as Rioclarense, they are not related to the points previously characterized in the central region of the interior of São Paulo. All the results suggest that, so far, it is a unique cultural manifestation for that specific region.
