Utilização de geoprocessamento na localização de potenciais sítios arqueológicos associados a camboas de pedra no litoral maranhense
Abstract
This research note is an offshot of the research funded by the CNPq's Productivity in Research Grant (PQ-2), entitled "Inventory of knowledge of archaeological sites at São Luís Island - MA: territorial zoning", which aims to identify, map, and register archaeological sites on São Luís Island. This publication will emphasize the application of geoprocessing tools for the identification and prediction of archaeological sites called "camboas" or "gamboas de pedra"(stone fishing weirs) as fishing structures, which are mostly located in estuarine, beach, and intertidal zones, distributed throughout Maranhão’s Coast. The spatial scope of this results note will focus specifically on the sites existing on the Western Coast of Maranhão, also known as the Amazon Equatorial Coast or Brazilian Equatorial Margin
