Os jesuítas e a formação educacional do povo brasileiro

Resumo

Este artigo procura contribuir para a pesquisa e a discussão em torno da tarefa educativa no período colonial brasileiro. Por diversos fatores, a educação no Novo Mundo foi confiada aos clérigos da Companhia de Jesus, que, por duzentos e dez anos, reinaram absolutos no campo pedagógico-educacional. Apesar de outras ordens religiosas atuarem na educação, foram a estrutura, a organização e a sistematização do ensino jesuítico as que prevaleceram e, juntamente com seus costumes e visão de mundo, tornaram-se características marcantes da cultura e da sociedade até os dias de hoje. The Jesuits and the educational background of Brazilian people Abstract: This article tries to contribute for the research and the discussion on the educational task implanted during the colonial period in Brazil. Due to many reasons the responsibility for the education in the New World was initially granted to the Jesuit Order which for 210 years reigned absolutely in the educational and pedagogic field. Even that other catholic orders have also worked on education along that time, the organization, the estructure and the teaching system of the Jesuits prevailed. And, along with their customs and vision of world, became strong characteristics of the culture and society until present times.
