TRABALHADORES NEGROS CRIAM UNIÃO FAMILIAR: REVIVENDO O MAIS ANTIGO CLUBE SOCIAL NEGRO DE SANTA MARIA/RS

Resumo

Black workers create União Familiar: reliving on the oldest black social club in Santa Maria/RSEste artigo atualiza os estudos acerca do Clube União Familiar, o clube social negro, mais antigo de Santa Maria/RS, fundado em 1896. O texto apresenta um perfil social inédito de sua diretoria, entre os anos 1920 e 1921, com base no cruzamento de fontes diversas, tendo como principal aporte teórico-metodológico a micro-história e o método onomástico. O acompanhamento das trajetórias de seus diretores permitiu identificar suas famílias, bem como suas práticas associativas e atividades sócio-profissionais. Analisando registros diversos, tais como as fontes paroquiais, civis-cartoriais, documentos judiciais, documentos da escravidão, registros da intendência municipal e fontes da imprensa negra, foi possível tecer importantes conclusões acerca dos trabalhadores negros e suas famílias, que viram em União Familiar uma forma de agência e sustentação de seus projetos de vida.Palavras-chave: União Familiar; Santa Maria; Clubes Sociais Negros; Pós-Abolição; Famílias negras. Abstract: This article updates the studies about the União Familiar Club, the oldest black social club in Santa Maria/RS, founded in 1896. The text presents an unprecedented social profile of its board between the years 1920 and 1921, based on the crossing of numerous sources, having as main theoretical-methodological contribution the micro-history and the onomastic method. The accompaniment of its directors trajectories made possible to identify their families, as well as their associative practices and socio-professional activities. By the analysis of different records, such as parochial sources, civil-notary sources, judicial documents, slavery documents, municipal intendancy records and black press sources, it was possible to draw important conclusions about black workers and their families, who saw in União Familiar a form of agency and support of their life projects. Keywords: União Familiar; Santa Maria; Black Social Clubs; Post-Abolition; Black families
