Resumo: O presente artigo examina a intersubjetividade e a imprevisibilidade nas táticas militares, articulando o conceito de guerra em Clausewitz com a análise literária e psicanalítica de Edgar Allan Poe e Jacques Lacan. Toma-se como estudo de caso a Batalha do Rio da Prata e o afundamento do encouraçado Graf von Spee, demonstrando como o planejamento bélico exige a antecipação do comportamento do oponente em um cenário de incertezas e "fricção". A argumentação utiliza a metáfora do jogo de "par ou ímpar" em "A Carta Roubada" para ilustrar que a vitória tática depende da capacidade de avaliar o intelecto alheio, transcendendo a mera projeção da própria lógica sobre o adversário. Conclui-se que o comandante Langsdorff, limitado por imperativos operacionais e incapaz de exercer essa alteridade imaginativa, sucumbiu ao blefe britânico, evidenciando que a guerra é um fenômeno onde tática e psicologia se entrelaçam na tentativa de subjugar a vontade do outro.

Abstract: The present article examines intersubjectivity and unpredictability in military tactics, articulating Clausewitz’s concept of war with the literary and psychoanalytic analysis of Edgar Allan Poe and Jacques Lacan. The Battle of the River Plate and the scuttling of the battleship Graf von Spee are adopted as a case study, demonstrating how war planning requires the anticipation of the opponent's behavior within a scenario of uncertainty and "friction." The argumentation employs the metaphor of the "even and odd" game found in "The Purloined Letter" to illustrate that tactical victory depends on the capacity to assess the alien intellect, transcending the mere projection of one's own logic onto the adversary. It is concluded that Commander Langsdorff, constrained by operational imperatives and unable to exercise this imaginative alterity, succumbed to the British bluff, evidencing that war is a phenomenon wherein tactics and psychology intertwine in the attempt to subjugate the will of the other.
