À medida que nos aproximamos da 30ª Conferência das Partes (COP30) da Convenção-
Quadro das Nações Unidas sobre a Mudança do Clima (UNFCCC), o estudo da geopolítica ambiental
ganha relevância cada vez maior na arena global. Questões prementes como a justiça climática,
transição energética, redução de emissões de carbono e a resiliência das comunidades vulneráveis
estarão no centro das discussões internacionais. Sob essa perspectiva, o livro de Shannon O’Lear,
Environmental Geopolitics, traz uma análise crítica pertinente, destacando como os discursos
predominantes sobre meio ambiente e segurança climática são frequentemente moldados por interesses
políticos e econômicos específicos.

Review of the book Environmental Geopolitics by Shannon O'Lear.

As we approach the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the study of environmental geopolitics assumes increasingly significant relevance within the global arena. Pressing issues such as climate justice, energy transition, carbon emission reduction, and the resilience of vulnerable communities will be situated at the core of international deliberations. Within this perspective, Shannon O’Lear’s book, Environmental Geopolitics, presents a pertinent critical analysis, highlighting the manner in which predominant discourses regarding the environment and climate security are frequently shaped by specific political and economic interests.
