Resumo: Este artigo tem como objetivo discutir a participação da fonte eólica na matriz energética e elétrica
brasileira em termos de segurança energética. A pergunta que norteia esse estudo é: a energia eólica é uma opção acessível para garantir a segurança energética no Brasil? Em um cenário onde emergências ambientais, resultado da crescente exploração e degradação ambiental, têm sido cada vez mais recorrentes, a manutenção do equilíbrio entre meio ambiente e acesso à energia a preços justos para a população é imperativo para o desenvolvimento sustentável. Por isso, apesar de tratar de conceitos diferentes, é necessário aproximar e relacionar a segurança ambiental e a segurança energética. Dado o esgotamento dos grandes empreendimentos hidrelétricos, as novas renováveis chamam a atenção. A competitividade da fonte eólica, tanto onshore ‒ que já possui cadeia produtiva consolidada no Brasil ‒ quanto offshore ‒ cuja indústria precisa ser fomentada, visto a complexidade das tecnologias que espaços marinhos demandam ‒ estão aumentando e essas fontes podem se tornar predominantes dentro de alguns anos.

Abstract: This article aims to discuss the participation of wind power in the Brazilian energy and electricity matrix in terms of energy security. The guiding question of this study is: Is wind energy an accessible option for guaranteeing energy security in Brazil? In a scenario where environmental emergencies, resulting from increasing exploitation and environmental degradation, have become increasingly recurrent, maintaining the balance between the environment and access to energy at fair prices for the population is imperative for sustainable development. Therefore, although dealing with distinct concepts, it is necessary to approximate and relate environmental security and energy security. Given the depletion of large hydroelectric projects, new renewables are garnering attention. The competitiveness of wind power, both onshore—which already possesses a consolidated production chain in Brazil—and offshore—whose industry requires fostering given the complexity of technologies demanded by marine spaces—is increasing, and these sources may become predominant within a few years.
