Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the valuations on the identity ofstudents (not) benefited by affirmative actions, materialized in statements of the online comment genre. Comments in responses to a publication on Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) official Facebook pagewere analyzed, about the results promulgation of UFPR's first stage entrance exam. Discussion on identity is anchored In Hall (2006), Silva (2014) and Woodward (2014), scholars of Cultural Studies. In addition, the understanding of online commentary as a genre is based on the theories of the Bakhtin Circle (BAKHTIN, 2011 [1952], BAKHTIN, VOLOCHINOV, 2010 [1929], VOLOCHINOV, 2013 [1930]) and Alves Filho e Santos (2013). The analysis of the comments demonstrated diverse values constructions regarding the identity position of students benefited by affirmative actions: valuations that disqualify them, value regular students, and separate (and hierarchize) these groups always through binary oppositions.
