The discursive constitution of the political scandal as social struggle
the use of metaphor in the media discourse in the “Novos Aloprados”
Abstract
The political scandal has be come very frequent in Brazil, revealing the dimensions and the operation of institutional power in the country. In thinking of the particular event in its relation to the broad social
structure, the article aims to present and discuss political scandal as a tense event of signification that is constituted discursively by enunciative in stances of media. Basedon a conception of political scandal as a symbolic event e on a conception of discourse as hegemonic articulatory practice, this article an alyzes the Novos Aloprados political scandal, comparing the use of the discursive-textual strategy of the metaphor in the discursive practices of the magazines Veja and Carta Capital. The results indicate that the political scandal in focus constitutes discursively in hegemonic conflicts, allowing a reading of the event in general as a social struggle.
