Editorial: Society and Climate Emergency in Rio Grande do Sul
Abstract
This Special Dossier is the result of a union between various social segments—victims of the severe climate events that devastated the state of Rio Grande do Sul in the second half of 2023. The group's proposal is to amplify the voices circulating within a scientific publication, seeking inclusivity and epistemological openness. Thus, it features the collaboration of students, professors, physicians, social workers, psychologists, municipal public servants, members of the civil defense, NGO activists, and other public and private agents, who greatly honor and pride us. Consequently, the Dossier covers crucial themes within the context of climate emergencies in the gaúcho territory: grassroots groups and their forms of resistance; public policies; institutions; governance and sustainability; mental health; and humanist perspectives.
